A Winter Vacation
In just a week, I'm leaving for a two-week vacation to Peru. That means I won't be updating my blog for a while, which isn't much of a change, but at least this time I'm warning you. We're going to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and arrive to the top on Christmas Day. The road to it looks like it would be pretty fun to bike.
Which I've been doing a lot of lately. Baba came and gave six Bellas some training tips during a spinning session at NOW bikes yesterday. It was very helpful in answering some of the questions I have about training for next season. One of the main points was that it's important to take a couple weeks to just sit on the couch and eat pecan pie.
Today I headed out for a few hours with the LGR team. Strats, dispencer, Gilby, Super-Rookie, the Little Guy, Shana, and Amy were all there. We headed out towards Excelsior, where we stopped at a Dunn Bros for some coffee, and S-R and Dis immediately jumped on the computers to see if anyone had commented on their blogs. I fully expected one of them to scoop Karla! on some breaking news, but as this post went to press, neither of them had yet. The Little Guy navigated us home a different way than we'd come, so the townline sprints were different. At one point I almost was going to beat Dis, but my bike wouldn't shift. Well, that's a good excuse, but what really happened was that he put in about two hard pedal strokes and it was all over for me. He sat up too early though, and the Little Guy snuck around on the outside to take the sprint. The Little Guy can be pretty sneaky like that.
All in all, it was a beautiful weekend to be outside - over 40 degrees and sunny. One question: does that seem like weather to be ice-fishing? A stunning number of people over by Lake Minnetonka thought so.
