Back to the Track

Last weekend, after I finished the 12 hour ordeal, I told myself that I wasn't going to even look at a bike for the rest of the week. Well, that lasted till about Tuesday, when I went out for a morning ride. That went OK, and by yesterday I was itching to race again. Geez. So I went up to the track last night. The women's field was somewhat slim, compared to what it has been, no Sarah, no Barb, no Margot, no Gilby, no UofM girl with a pink bike. But Bellas Becca and Megan were there, along with Bella Maria, riding for UofM. Rounding out the field were a Betty, a Penn Cycles girl, and two Alan ladies.

I was thinking about racing with the men's 4/5 field as well, but Stacia came over and informed me that it had almost 30 guys in it. Wow, that's a big night for the 4/5s! Maybe not the best time for me to start riding with the guys. It was a good thing too, because a bunch of them fell off the track in their second race. Oooops.

Overall, the women's races went well. It was great to have Megan and Becca out there! I got second in the 10 lap scratch, to Maria, who is wicked fast. Then for the miss-n-out, I got second again, to the Penn Cycles girl, who is also wicked fast. Nice job to them! The 30 lap points race went really well for me and I managed to take the points on the first 3 sprints, and ended up winning the race. And actually managed to squeak out an omnium too! So I was psyched.

I was even more psyched to see these really cool pictures from the track last week at Matt Moses' site.

Nice job racing this week! Hopefully there will be a few more women out next week. I'm still not sure if I'll be back to race or not.

PS--would you mind changing the link in this post to "Gilby"? I prefer not to have any public links to my blog by my real name :c)
