Anticipation...
I'll get to the anticipation part later...
Last Thursday I went up to the track again, as has become a weekly habit. There were an amazing 10 women in our field, and even more amazing, 6 of them were Bellas - Becca, Barb, Sarah, Jodi, Megan, and me. The first race was a 10 lap scratch race, not my favorite, but it's a pretty standard warm-up race. So we all headed out, and Barb had a nice attack about halfway through. I tried to hold off the UofM girl but she went around me on the outside and jumped on Barb's wheel. So I latched on too, and the three of us were off the front a bit. With about 2.5 to go, I attacked, got a gap, and somehow managed to hold off the others to win the race. Alright!
Next was the Keirin. There were a couple heats, and then a final. Gilby took it in the end, and I got 4th. The last race was supposed to be a 30 lap scratch race, but all of a sudden the whole sky got dark and rumors of a tornado started circulating. When it started thundering and lightning, the officials called it a night, and we all went home. So in the end, there were three of us ladies tied for the omnium -- me, Gilby, and the UofM girl. Sweet!
In other news, I've moved! I'm now in my third house since moving to Minneapolis. I'm pretty psyched to be here, living with my teammate Paula, and we've got a nice basement full of bikes. Also, it's been ridiculously hot.
And the anticipation...what's that all about? On Wednesday, Sarah, Paula and I are leaving to go to Superweek! We're heading out after work on Wednesday, and racing Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
