Saturday - Hi Jenny!!

I realized today how much I love riding my bike. I headed out with Margot to our Bella ride at 10:00 in St Louis Park, where we met up with Bill and Stratton. We chatted about cyclists' skinny arms and then headed out for a couple hours. Margot kicked my butt at sprinting and then we stopped at a coffee shop in St Paul. Then I realized I really wasn't ready to go home yet, so I decided to make it a 5 hour day. I headed out towards Afton, but turned off in some unknown direction to explore for a bit. It wasn't that sweet, so I was like, "well, damn." I got back on track to Afton, when I ran into the GP guys. Pete, Peter, Dale, Pat, Eric, and Dewey. So I turned around and headed back to Grand Performance with them -- they just got new kits, so they'll be looking sharp at the crit tomorrow. On the way home, Pete tried to get me with, "hmmmm, smells like up-dog." Get it? You're supposed to ask, "what's up dog?" It didn't work on me though, not because I'm smart, but because I said, "huh? I'm confused." Sorry Pete.

I digress. Portland this week was pretty fantastical as well. I mostly worked, seeing as I was there for work, but there was a bit of time for walking around Portland, and we even hit a few bars one night. It was a really cool town, and I almost felt like I just wasn't quite hip enough to be there. I'll have to work on that before I head out there for good.

I totally lucked out on the flight home -- I got a row to myself in an otherwise packed flight. So I stretched out and PTFO, and when I woke up the pilot was talking about landing. As I groggily sat up, I heard, "blah blah blah, faulty sensor on the landing gear, and as a precautionary measure, we will have emergency vehicles standing by on the runway to meet us as we touch down." Not a pleasant way to wake up. So I sat there debating whether I would try to take my purse with me when we crashed. It was a bit tense coming down to the runway -- there were a bunch of ambulances and firetrucks waiting that started racing after us as soon as we touched down. Apparently, it was just a precautionary measure though, as we all ended up just fine. Not bad.

The Hutchinson Crit is tomorrow, my first race as a cat 3. Not that it really matters -- all the women will be in there racing at the same time anyway. That's it for now!
