Opus Is Over!!

I think it just struck me today that Opus is over. It was really fun while it lasted! And now that reality has set in, without further ado, my Opus race report. (Only 3 days later!) The 1/2/3 ladies were somehow convinced not to race, so as to have one Opus be entirely the cat 4 ladies. It was fun. We started the 12-lap points race with a field of almost 20 I think. They were giving us points on laps 3, 6, 9, and final, along with some massage premes in the mix. If you know me well, you know I love massages, and if you don't, well, now you know. On lap three, somehow I managed to jump on someone's wheel and then cross the line ahead of everyone else. After the line, 3 Bettys came swarming around me and apparently we had a small gap. I wasn't having any of that. One Bella (that can't sprint) and three Bettys does not equal a good race for me. So I sat up a bit and next time I looked back, Bella Paula was right there with us. Nice job bridging, Paula! She didn't bring anyone else with her, so with 2 Bellas and 3 Bettys the break was ready to go. So along we went. After my first stroke of luck, I didn't manage to take first in any of the other points laps, but I stayed up there for second or third in all of them. However, when I heard the bell for the massage preme, I was totally motivated -- I got that one. I'm psyched. For the end lap, we were all hanging together, and I leaned over and told Paula to go early on the uphill before the line. Apparently, it worked -- she totally kicked all of our butts and won the final sprint! I edged over the line in second, and when the points were added up, I won the race, and Paula got second. Not bad, I must say. Hmmm, did I just hear the Bellas lay the smack down? Hmmmm. The Bettys may have had us outnumbered (Annie and Gwen were there too) but it seems like we still held our own.

After the race, we all ate pizza, courtesy of MWCMR, and talked tactics. Except instead of talking tactics with our own teams, we all talked together in a lovely free-love environment. My mom, visiting from Michigan, thought we might even have all been on the same team. But no, we were just eating pizza.
