Superweek - is over

Whew. A quick summary of yesterday's race - it was confusing. It got blown apart, a lot like Cudahy, and soon the lead group was down to about 20 women. I was in some early moves that almost worked, but nothing stayed away until two girls kind of rode off the front. About two thirds of the way through the race, I realized that no one else was really committed to chasing down the two-person break that was still lingering off the front so I went for it. One other girl came with me and we worked hard for a couple laps to try to bridge, but couldn't quite get there. Just as the field caught back up to us, someone else launched an attack, and I got spit out the back. Yuck. Oh well, I only had 8 laps to go, and I still managed to finish in front of the second half of the pelaton for a 17th place.

Overall, it was so fun to race with Bellas Paula, Sarah, and Barb, and with a ton of other great ladies! After our race, we somehow managed to convince ourselves that it would be a good idea to stay and watch the P/1/2 men's race and then drive the 5 hours back to Minneapolis starting after 8:00pm. It was a great race to watch though, the highlight being when Pat tossed a well-aimed waterbottle right into a surprised Paula's lap, then rode by apologizing profusely on the next lap. The GP guys had a great race though and some great results with a 5th and 8th place.

Here I am before the pain

Here I am during the pain of the breakaway

And the field

Now the break has lapped the field

And we're all chillin out before the final sprint

And I'm out!
