CX is here!
This morning I woke up today to a nice drizzle and about 50 degrees. I'd been looking forward to today for about 2 weeks now, because there was a CX clinic in the morning down at Hollywood's and then the Urthel Grand Prix up at the velodrome in the evening.
What could be better than a day with cyclocross AND track racing in the same day?? I can't really think of much. But the morning drizzle didn't bode well for the track racing.
I got out the bianchi cross bike for about the second time this year, and Paula and I headed out to meet Manda. The three of us had a rather wet ride down to the shop. In spite of the weather, there was quite a good turnout for the clinic and a lot of people new to 'cross. The drizzle subsided a bit actually and we had a great clinic. Lots of crashes, on the whole, but I managed to not crash at all until Paula, Manda, and I were on our way home. Thanks to Hollywood, Hardogger, Fast Freddy, Dan, Doug, and Patty Cakes for leading the clinic and sharing your skills. It was also really cool to see some new women out there, and I hope they come to the races this season!
Unfortunately, my sweet day was cut a little short, as the Grand Prix was called off due to rain. Which means the last day at the track is Thursday. I already can't wait till next year!

What about your crash on the way home??
Looks like I'm not the only one working on the look of my blog! I like the green text.
Nice shot of Hollywood cheating around a barrier (again).
More remarkable is the fact that he's taken a hotdog feed and is eating it on the way up the hill and over the barriers. I don't think he's particularly looking for a time advantage in this situation.
Thanks for the clinic Jay.
I'm still sore from that mini-race...
