Night rides....
Just got this cool pic from the Hudson race of Linda and me - thanks to Gregg!

One thing I really love about the fall is doing night rides. Not that I'm psyched about the shorter daylight hours, but look at the bright side. Today I was a bad influence on Paula and caused her to leave work for an hour or so (cough, 2.5 hours, cough) to go riding with me. Seriously though, if you're working after 6:00pm, you should be convinced to leave. So we headed out as the sun was starting to set, made our way through downtown and headed down West River Road towards the Mendota Bridge. Over by the VA I saw this woman in a Dartmouth sweatshirt, so being the shy, quiet, reserved individual that I am, I yelled "Yeah, Dartmouth!" She was a bit startled and confused, so I was like, "Dartmouth, I went there too" pointing at her as we rolled by at a rather quick clip. Paula had a good point though - she probably picked up the shirt somewhere at a thrift store. Oh well. Pretty soon it was time for me to turn on my ultra high powered blinding Light in Motion bikelight to light the way for us and blind any oncoming traffic and would-be muggers. We went over to Mendota/Lilydale, rode down the trail to the Yacht Club, and then continued on the road to Harriet Island. Downtown St Paul is beautiful at night! We tried unsuccessfully to take out some of the Wild fans as we made our way through the somewhat crazy traffic. We practiced the College Girl Swerve a coupla times on our way to Ramsey hill and up to Summit, where we decided it was time for a snack. Reaching into our jersey pockets, Paula pulled out some Power Bagel Bite or something, and I pulled out, according to Paula, some "gag material." Thank you, Paula, for saying that before I had a chance to enjoy my snack. Apparently, she can't stand banana-flavored food items. I will say, that I think Nature Valley does make products superior to the one I ate today, but it wasn't gag material either. Anyway, we cruised home on the Greenway, talking about the improbability of getting mugged with a spotlight strapped to one's head, especially if one was talking in a man-voice. What a fun ride! I'm psyched for more.
CX again this weekend, Saturday in Milaca and Sunday at Lake Rebecca. Think Todd Wells is going to show up at Milaca again? I'm not betting on it. But I'll probably be there. I think that's enough for tonight.
